New Malt Mill

Mar 5, 2014

Since the local homebrew store was giving a very inconsistent grind, I had to take that part under my control, so I purchased the Monster Mill MM3-2.0 from http://www.monsterbrewinghardware.com/.

Knowing that I didn't want to do this by hand, or an electric drill, I built a motorzied stand from some old parts from my dad's golf shop.  I chose a 1HP motor.  I ended up having to move the driveshaft and also needed to reduce the motor RPM from 1750 to ~200rpm.  My local hardware store was able to provide some pulley wheels and belts that got me down to 250 RPMS.  I'll give that a try.
